Storage & Logistics

Own the store, own the delivery date

A crop is only as good as the day it reaches the buyer in the condition they contracted for. Vistula Fields dries, cleans, conditions and despatches everything it grows from its own facilities at Toruń and Płock, with no third-party store in the chain.

Facilities

Two sites, 62,000 tonnes

Storage was the single largest investment this business has made, and the one that changed the terms we can trade on. It lets us take the whole crop off the field at the right moment rather than the affordable one, and hold it until a contract calls.

Harvest intake hours
24/7, July to October

60 t, certified annually
Typical call-off lead time

Up to 8 held simultaneously
Sample retention
12 months per lot

The chain

Field to buyer in four controlled steps

Each step has a record attached to it. If a load is queried, we can show what it weighed, what it tested at, which cell it came from and which block grew it.

  1. Intake

Every load crosses the weighbridge and is sampled before tipping. Moisture, specific weight, impurities and — on wheat — protein are read on site within minutes, and the result decides which cell the load goes to.

  2. Drying & cleaning

Wet grain goes straight to the driers at up to 160 t/h combined and comes off at contract moisture. Pre-cleaning removes chaff, green material and admixture before the crop reaches storage.

  3. Conditioning & monitoring

Aeration fans and probe temperature monitoring run through the storage period. Cells are checked weekly, logged, and cooled in stages to keep insect and mould risk down without over-drying.

  4. Despatch

Loads are called off against contract, re-sampled at outloading and released with a weighbridge ticket and a quality certificate. Retained samples are held for twelve months against any claim.

Distribution

Where the tonnes go

Most of our crop stays in Poland — mills in Wielkopolska and Mazovia, the regional sugar plant, crushers and maltsters. The balance moves west by road into eastern Germany and Czechia, or north by rail to the Baltic export terminals at Gdynia and Gdańsk.
