Vistula Fields

We farm 11,400 hectares of the lower Vistula basin, and we move every tonne of it ourselves.

More than a grower: our own driers, our own stores, our own despatch desk.

One team from drill to weighbridge, so the tonnes and the specification you were quoted are the ones that arrive.

Vistula Fields has grown combinable crops and roots between Płock and Toruń since 2004. Deep alluvial soils sit close to the river and heavier loess on the terraces above it — both reward a disciplined five-course rotation far more than they reward spending, and our agronomy team plans on a five-year horizon.

We dry, clean and store 62,000 tonnes on our own sites, and deliver by road across Poland and the DACH region and by rail to the Baltic terminals. Every load leaves with a weighbridge ticket, a sample retained for twelve months and a certificate written against the contract specification.

What we produce

Four things we do, and do properly

No side ventures and no diversification for its own sake. Each pillar has a named lead and a published set of quality targets.

Grain

Milling wheat, malting barley, hybrid rye

6,100 hectares of cereals on the heavier river-terrace soils. Milling wheat is grown to a 12.5% protein and 220s Hagberg target; malting barley to under 11.5% nitrogen with germination held above 96%.

Rapeseed

Winter oilseed rape for crushing

2,300 hectares drilled from mid-August, established with a low-disturbance tine drill to hold moisture. Delivered to crushers at 9% moisture and 2% impurities, with oil content typically 43–45%.

Root crops

Sugar beet and ware potatoes

3,000 hectares of roots on the lighter alluvial ground close to the river, lifted from late September. Beet goes to contract with the regional sugar plant; ware potatoes are graded and packed for retail packers.

Storage & logistics

Our own stores, our own despatch

62,000 tonnes of silo and flat store across two sites, with 160 t/h of drying capacity, cleaning, aeration and temperature monitoring. Road across Poland and the DACH region, rail to the Baltic terminals.

By the numbers

The operation, measured

Figures are from the 2025 harvest year and our September 2025 store audit. We publish them because buyers plan against capacity, not adjectives.

How we work

Rotation first, inputs second

Both our soil types reward a disciplined rotation more than they reward spending.

Our agronomy team plans on a five-year horizon and buys inputs against that plan, not against the season’s mood.

A five-course rotation

Winter wheat, winter rapeseed, winter wheat, sugar beet or potatoes, then spring barley. Roots break the cereal disease cycle, rapeseed pays for the break, and no cereal follows itself more than once.

Soil measured, not guessed

Every block is sampled on a four-year rolling cycle for pH, P, K, Mg and organic matter. Lime and phosphate go on by variable rate map, which cut our P applications by 18% without moving yield.

Cover crops and controlled traffic

Mustard and phacelia mixes go in behind early harvest to hold nitrogen over winter on the lighter alluvial ground. Machinery runs on fixed tramlines to keep compaction off the cropped area.

Records that survive an audit

Every application, sample and load is logged against the block and the batch. Buyers get the field history behind a delivery on request, and our GLOBALG.A.P. and QMS certification depends on it.

Storage & logistics

From our weighbridge to yours

Owning the store is what lets us hold a crop until the contract calls for it. Owning the despatch desk is what gets it there on the day.

Every load leaves with a weighbridge ticket, a sample retained for twelve months and a quality certificate written against the contract specification.

Careers

Join the team

Forty-eight permanent staff and around thirty-five seasonal crew run this operation. We train operators on our own machines, pay overtime properly through harvest, and promote from the yard and the field before we advertise outside.

Spring Drilling Tractor Operator

A machine operator at work during harvest

Field Operations · Kuyavia, Poland · Seasonal

Season contract from early March to the end of May: cultivate and drill spring barley, sugar beet and ware potatoes across the Kuyavia blocks, working the weather window from first travel until the last field is in.

Seasonal Crop Scout

An agronomist assessing crop condition in the field

Agronomy · Płock, Poland · Fixed-term

April to late August contract walking the Płock blocks ahead of the agronomists — the eyes that decide whether a fungicide goes on this week or next.
